Nataraja, The Lord of Dance, Bronze Hindu Statue

21.5" High x 14" Wide x 4" Deep

Nataraja is bronze done in the Lost Wax Technique allowing for all the fine details. Nataraja, the Lord of Dance, is a depiction of the God Shiva as the cosmic dancer who performs his divine dance to destroy a weary universe & make preparations for the God Brahma to start the process of creation. He dances the Dance of Bliss within an arch of flames representing the manifest Universe. He stands on the dwarf demon Apasmara symbolizing Shiva's victory over ignorance & the passage of spirit from the divine into the material.  The snake coiling around his wrist is kundalina, the divine force thought to reside in everything. His stoic face represents his neutrality, thus being in balance.
