Antique Thai Charcoal Ironing Box
8" High x 4.5" Wide x 8.5" Long
In the 1890"s, a development from the flat iron heated in the fire made the base of your iron into a container where you can put glowing coals inside it and keep it hot a bit longer. This is a charcoal iron. The hinged lid and the air holes allow the charcoal to keep smoldering. These are sometimes called ironing boxes, or charcoal box irons.
Here there is a bird, most likely a rooster on the front top. The wood handle has damage as shown having been used over time.
