Buddha's footprints are meant to remind us that Buddha was present on earth and left a spiritual path to be followed. The spirual significance of the footprint to those who gazed upon it is that the key to ultimate happiness is through nirvana and symbolizing the grounding of the transcendent . Buddhist symbols also appear on the heels and toes, such as the lotus, the triratna , the three jewels: Buddha, Dharma and Sangha and the eight auspicious symbols in the Tibetan traditoon.
There is a little loss of paint with use.
