Kar,Bronze Buddha Protected by the Seven Headed Cobra Statue

Kar, Protection,  is  Buddha meditating in the single lotus position. A bronze with a soft gold patina is done in the Lost Wax Technique allowing for the fine details.  Here he is on a cobra pedestal rising up from a hood of seven protection heads. This naga cobra is called Mucilanda. The seven heads are associated with the seven colors of the rainbow. He is said to have risen up to protect Buddha from the elements. This is an important spiritual object for many Buddhists as it depicts Buddha, the awakened one, being protected by the faithful king of serpents.
